Day 3: Explore Nyungwe Forest

You will start with a breakfast and a briefing at Uwinka tourist information Centre. So depending on your personal interests, you will have a choice of different opportunities of exploring the largest high altitude rain forest of East Africa! The other interests are the large social groups of the Angolan colobus which may be over 300 individuals. There are also the largest troops of this species that are known in the world! Nyungwe forest also counts 25% of the African Primates.

One of these groups is also semi habituated and we also recommend to start your adventure with a guided primate walk in search of the Angolan colobus monkeys, the rangers will tell you where the group is located and the hiking times many also vary as the group if traveling looking for food. Also be prepared to have a more active hike.

Another alternative might be a chimp trek instead in Nyungwe Forest.

You will be given 1 hour to stay with them as you are accompanied by the park rangers who have spent all their lives living with these creatures with in the forest. This trek will be as exciting as you also go through the vines, giant lobelias, and the moss covered hagenia trees that grow in the tropical climate. Gorilla trekking is kinder active but worthwhile on meeting these gentle giants. The eagerness of your coming across with these apes will wipe away your complexity of the active trek. You spend time as you are watching the gorillas, view the adults feeding their young ones, resting and brushing as the young ones play from vines in the pleasurably playful display.

The guide will then drive you back to Kigali city in the afternoon.

Day 6: City tour & Departure

Enjoy half day Kigali city tour and you will have a chance to view the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi which also takes a few hours. This is an emotional visit and the important visit and the importance for one to realize what hardship Rwanda went through.
